One of our major clients who specialise in offshore pipelay and subsea construction have successfully completed an FCG (Flooding, Cleaning and Gauging) operation of a 43 km, 14 inch pipeline in the Dutch sector of the North Sea.
As part of the FCG operations, a pig train of three pigs was used. At this stage, it is very important to efficiently prove pigs are launched and received in the temporally subsea heads, and to minimise the vessel time. Receiving clear and accurate pig tracking information is critical to reduce the uncertainty of the pig location in the pipeline.
